It is a quaint and historic neighborhood in Panama City founded in 1887. The Cove was once called “Little New York” because it was home to so many northern transplants drawn to the area. Its proximity to the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club made it an attractive neighborhood for wealthy transplants who arrived on their yachts and stayed in hotels along Harrison Avenue or in the historic homes they built on narrow lots. The Cove is the original town center, located by the water and dotted with colonial-style buildings and a tiny park.
 
The Cove is older than most other neighborhoods in Panama City, and it has an old-fashioned, small-town feel with sidewalks and streets lined with 100-year-old oaks. The homes are primarily small, wood-frame bungalows built in the 1950s and 1960s. The Cove is an area of Panama City that’s been gentrified — Historic homes have been restored, and some new ones have been constructed to keep the original styles.

The Cove neighborhood has playgrounds, waterfront parks, and an annual 4th of July parade, one of Panama City's most popular events. The St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club is not just a boat club but a popular location for private parties and wedding receptions, and the Club has a fabulous restaurant and bar.
 
Many popular entertainment venues, bars, nightclubs, live music venues, theaters, and museums are just a short drive from The Cove in downtown Panama City. The surrounding beach communities and towns host outdoor concerts, movie nights, and festivals throughout the year.
